Function:
Receives information regarding unconscious proprioception
(information conveyed via 1a, 1b and II fibers) from IPSI. upper limb
and neck. Medullary equivalent of Clarke's column.
Pathway:
Neurons in the accessory cuneate nucleus receive input from central
processes of dorsal root ganglion cells rostral to C8. These neurons
send cuneocerebellar axons to the IPSI. cerebellum via the inferior
cerebellar peduncle (restiform body), where they accompany dorsal
spinocerebellar [uncrossed] and olivocerebellar fibers [crossed]).
Deficits:
Lesion results in incoordination of IPSI. arm.
Other Note:
CEREBELLAR LESIONS=IPSI. MOTOR INCOORDINATION; CEREBRAL CORTEX
LESIONS=CONTRA. MOTOR PROBLEMS
