If
lesions interrupt the lateral horn or the ventral roots as
far caudal as L2, the loss of sympathetic drive to the
thorax, abdomen and pelvis is most noticeable
in the lack of sweating in the area innervated by the
particular nerve (heart rate and visceral control are
relatively normal at rest).
